Research summary

Coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) was first observed at the Oak Ridge Spallation Neutron Source using a 14.6 kg sodium-doped CsI scintillator at 6.7 sigma confidence [1], and the same collaboration subsequently demonstrated CEvNS on argon with a liquid argon detector at >3 sigma significance and an averaged cross section of (2.2 +/- 0.7) x 10^-39 cm^2, consistent with the Standard Model and confirming the neutron-number dependence of the process [4]. Belle data covering 772 million B Bbar pairs at KEKB yielded the first measurement of the tau polarization P_tau(D*) = -0.38 in the decay Bbar -> D* tau- nubar_tau alongside R(D*) = 0.270, with the tau reconstructed in tau- -> pi- nu_tau and tau- -> rho- nu_tau modes [2]. Resistivity, specific heat, entropy, and susceptibility measurements on Y_{1-x}U_xPd_3 at x = 0.2 showed near-linear rho(T) from 0.2 to 20 K and C(T)/T ~ -ln(alpha T), with the molar entropy per U saturating near (R/2)ln(2), pointing to non-Fermi-liquid behaviour in a Kondo alloy [3]. The CEPC physics paper outlined the precision Higgs program at a proposed Chinese circular e+e- Higgs factory housed in a ~100 km tunnel [5], and the FIPs 2022 workshop report mapped the parameter space for feebly interacting particles below GeV down to sub-eV scales as candidates for dark matter, neutrino masses, and electroweak fine-tuning [6]. A separate epidemiology stream covered feasibility of screening tuberculosis patients for diabetes mellitus in six Chinese health facilities, where 8886 registered TB patients were screened by random blood glucose [7], and an 8025-patient multicentre observational study of extrapulmonary tuberculosis in China assessed prevalence by site, demographic factors, and concurrent pulmonary tuberculosis [9]. A Paris simulation study of urban ridesharing quantified rebound effects on environmental benefits arising from reduced individual travel cost and reduced congestion [8].
