Research summary
Inclusive deep-inelastic e+/-p scattering cross sections measured by H1 and ZEUS at HERA over 1994-2000 were combined with correlated systematics, spanning six orders of magnitude in Q^2 and Bjorken x. The combined sample served as the sole input to a NLO QCD fit that produced HERAPDF1.0, including model and parametrisation uncertainties [1]. A subsequent combination added all proton-beam-energy configurations (920, 820, 575, and 460 GeV against a 27.5 GeV electron beam) for an integrated luminosity near 1 fb-1 and was used to update the QCD analysis of HERA data [2]. Open charm production cross sections from H1 and ZEUS were similarly combined in the kinematic range 2.5 <= Q^2 <= 2000 GeV^2 and 3e-5 <= x <= 5e-2, and used with the inclusive sample as input to a NLO QCD analysis that compared heavy-flavour schemes for parton distribution determination [6]. The Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC) design described a 60-140 GeV electron beam colliding with LHC hadron beams to extend HERA's range by a factor of twenty in Q^2 and 1/x with a design luminosity of 1e33 cm-2 s-1 [3]. At the Tevatron, the D0 experiment measured the t-tbar forward-backward asymmetry in the lepton+jets final state using 5.4 fb-1, obtaining (9.2 +/- 3.7)% at reconstruction level and (19.6 +/- 6.5)% after correction for acceptance and resolution [4]. CDF and D0 combined searches for WH/ZH with H to b-bbar over 9.7 fb-1 found an excess most significant in the 120-135 GeV/c^2 mass range, with a 3.3 sigma local and 3.1 sigma global significance [5]. The Tevatron top-quark mass was combined across decay channels for integrated luminosities up to 5.8 fb-1, treating systematic correlations explicitly [7]. A combined CDF and D0 Higgs analysis over up to 10 fb-1 covered gluon fusion, WH, ZH, ttH and vector-boson fusion in five decay channels, finding a 3.0 sigma local excess at mH = 125 GeV/c^2 consistent with the LHC observation [9]. D0 reported evidence for the narrow X(5568) state in B_s pi+/- decays in 10.4 fb-1 with mass 5567.8 +/- 2.9 MeV/c^2 and width 21.9 +/- 6.4 MeV, the first hadronic state with valence quarks of four different flavours [8].
